Vandalia Health Cuts Ribbon On New $30 Million Harrison County Hospital
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — A new hospital is set to begin serving patients in Harrison County next week following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at Charles Pointe Crossing.
Vandalia Health officially celebrated the opening of its new Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospital, a $30 million, approximately 38,000-square-foot facility built to expand emergency, inpatient and diagnostic care in the Bridgeport area.
The hospital is scheduled to begin seeing patients Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The two-story facility will include a full-service emergency department operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with eight treatment rooms and board-certified physicians. It also features 10 private inpatient rooms designed for short hospital stays.
Diagnostic services available at the hospital will include CT scans, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray, along with on-site laboratory services. The second floor also includes space that can be used for additional clinical services as demand grows.
The hospital is modeled after Vandalia Health’s Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital in White Hall, bringing a smaller-format hospital model to Harrison County while connecting patients with specialists and other services throughout the broader Vandalia Health network.
Dr. Christopher Edwards, a Harrison County native who serves as chief administrative officer of both the Mon Harrison and Mon Marion neighborhood hospitals, said the facility was designed using lessons learned from the Marion County location.
“In an emergency, time matters,” Edwards said, pointing to the benefit of bringing emergency care, imaging, laboratory services and inpatient care together at one location.
The project has been several years in the making. Mon Health System began the formal process for a neighborhood hospital in Bridgeport in 2022 with the filing of a Certificate of Need.
Construction followed with support from local partners, including Jamie and Jennifer Corton and Genesis Partners, which donated the land for the hospital at Charles Pointe Crossing.
The City of Bridgeport, Harrison County Commission and stakeholders in the area’s Tax Increment Financing district were also recognized by Vandalia Health for their roles in moving the project forward. March-Westin served as general contractor, with PhiloWilkie providing architectural work.
Tuesday’s ceremony brought together hospital employees, physicians, community leaders and supporters before the ribbon was cut and guests toured the completed facility.
The Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospital is located at 770 Haden Boulevard near Menards at Charles Pointe Crossing and is scheduled to open to patients at 7 a.m. Sept. 29.
