United Way to Host First Fire Truck Pull at Meadowbrook Mall
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Teams from across the community will soon have a chance to put their strength to the test for a local cause as the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties prepares to hold its first Fire Truck Pull at Meadowbrook Mall.
The new fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., bringing together businesses, organizations, first responders, families and groups of friends to see who can pull a real fire truck the fastest while raising money for programs serving Harrison and Doddridge counties.
Teams can include up to 20 participants. United Way is encouraging each participant to set a fundraising goal of at least $100, meaning a full 20-person team could raise $2,000 for local programs and nonprofit partner agencies.
Participants do not need to assemble a full team to take part. Individuals can also register and join United Way’s “Pulling United Team.”
The competition will include awards for more than just speed.
The individual who raises the most money by the time of the final pull will receive two round-trip airline tickets to Orlando, Florida, provided by North Central West Virginia Airport. The top fundraising team will receive individual prize bags, while trophies will be awarded for the fastest pull and the team showing the most spirit.
Costumes, chants and other displays of team spirit are encouraged.
Money raised through the event will support United Way partner agencies and programs addressing needs including health, youth opportunities, financial stability and community resilience throughout Harrison and Doddridge counties.
United Way currently supports 19 funded partner agencies serving the region, ranging from organizations providing meals, healthcare and emergency assistance to programs focused on children, recovery, housing and other community needs.
The Fire Truck Pull also provides another way for local businesses, workplaces, churches and community organizations to turn fundraising into a team-building event.
Businesses and organizations interested in supporting the event can also participate as sponsors, with sponsorship opportunities ranging from $500 to $5,000 and above.
The Fire Truck Pull will take place at Meadowbrook Mall on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Teams and individual participants can learn more, register and begin fundraising through the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties Fire Truck Pull page.
