Ribbon Cutting Planned Friday for Harrison County’s New America 250 Mural in Downtown Clarksburg
A new public art project celebrating West Virginia’s history and America’s upcoming 250th anniversary will officially debut Friday in downtown Clarksburg.
The Clarksburg History Museum announced it will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m. for Harrison County’s new America 250 mural located at James & Law Company.
The mural was created by artist Amber Penland and is part of the statewide West Virginia Mural Trail initiative, a project connected to the upcoming America 250 celebration recognizing the nation’s semiquincentennial.
According to organizers, the event will include representatives from the Harrison County Commission, Clarksburg City Council, volunteers and staff from the Clarksburg History Museum, and members of the James & Law Company team.
Guests attending the event will also be able to enjoy refreshments and tour The Gallery located inside the building.
The West Virginia Mural Trail is being coordinated through West Virginia Tourism and is expected to officially launch later this year. Organizers say the project will encourage visitors to travel throughout all 55 counties using a mural passport experience highlighting the state’s culture, heritage, and communities.
