RCB's Cooper Floyd Named Finalist for Sports Illustrated's West Virginia Baseball Player of the Year
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Robert C. Byrd High School standout Cooper Floyd has been named one of 12 finalists for Sports Illustrated's High School on SI West Virginia Baseball Player of the Year award.
The recognition comes after a standout senior season for Floyd, who was named the WV Big 10 Conference Baseball Player of the Year and helped lead the Eagles to the state baseball tournament in Huntington.
According to High School on SI, Floyd finished the season with a .445 batting average, collecting 57 hits, 11 home runs, 14 doubles, 28 RBIs, 62 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. He is committed to continue his baseball career at Walters State Community College.
Floyd joins a statewide field of 12 finalists representing schools from across West Virginia. The list includes players from George Washington, Morgantown, St. Joseph Central, Lincoln County, Gilmer County, Sherman, Frankfort, St. Mary's, St. Albans and James Monroe.
The online vote, conducted by Sports Illustrated's High School on SI, is open through July 5 and allows fans to support their favorite players from around the state.
