PHOTOS: WVU Punches Ticket to First College World Series in Program History
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University baseball made history by defeating Cal Poly in the NCAA Super Regional and securing the program's first-ever trip to the College World Series.
The Mountaineers completed a two-game sweep at Kendrick Family Ballpark, earning a place among the nation's final eight teams and sending WVU to Omaha, Nebraska, for the first time in school history.
Thousands of fans packed the stadium for the historic victory, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the weekend. Following the final out, players, coaches and supporters celebrated on the field as the Mountaineers officially punched their ticket to the College World Series.
