Mountaineers Fall to Kansas in Big 12 Championship Game, Turn Attention to NCAA Tournament

West Virginia’s pursuit of a Big 12 Baseball Championship came to an end Saturday as the Mountaineers fell to Kansas, 9 to 0, in the conference tournament title game.

The Mountaineers entered championship play carrying momentum after a strong run through the tournament and another impressive season under head coach Steve Sabins. Kansas was able to capitalize offensively and pull away as the game progressed, keeping West Virginia from claiming the conference crown.

Despite the loss, West Virginia remains positioned for postseason baseball and will now await its destination and matchup as the NCAA Tournament field is announced.
