Leadership Harrison Accepting Applications for 30th Anniversary Class
The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the 30th anniversary class of Leadership Harrison, a leadership development program that provides participants with an inside look at the organizations, industries, and institutions that shape Harrison County.
This year's class is limited to 30 participants, with Chamber officials reporting that 13 spots have already been filled. The application deadline is July 31.
Leadership Harrison is designed to help current and emerging leaders strengthen their leadership abilities while learning more about local government, education, healthcare, economic development, nonprofit organizations, and the business community. Participants also have opportunities to build professional relationships with fellow class members and community leaders throughout the program.
The Chamber is encouraging local businesses and organizations to sponsor employees for the commemorative 30th anniversary class, describing the program as an investment in both professional growth and the future of Harrison County.
Leadership Harrison's impact extends beyond its participants, with business and community leaders serving as speakers throughout the program.
"Being a speaker for Leadership Harrison has been one of the most rewarding ways I've been able to give back to my community," said Patrick Marozzi, who recently addressed this year's class. "The participants are engaged, curious, and genuinely interested in learning about the issues, opportunities, and organizations that help shape Harrison County."
Marozzi said the program benefits both participants and presenters by creating meaningful conversations that often lead to new perspectives. He said Leadership Harrison is "developing the next generation of community and business leaders," adding that experienced professionals have an important role in helping guide and encourage that growth.
Former participants say those lessons continue long after graduation.
"It gives you a great perspective and understanding of the people, organizations, and partnerships that make Harrison County a special place to live and work," said Josh Brown, executive director of Health Access Free Clinic and a 2020 Leadership Harrison graduate.
Brown also described the program as "an invaluable resource" that helped him better understand the community while building relationships and collaborations that continue to benefit him professionally.
Vanessa Bols, dental coordinator at Health Access Free and Charitable Clinic and a 2023 Leadership Harrison graduate, said the connections she made through the program remain one of its greatest benefits.
"I have used those connections for the past two, almost three years," Bols said. "I have made friends in the professional community. It has been more than a blessing."
