History Made: West Virginia Punches Ticket to College World Series
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — History was made on Saturday as West Virginia University defeated Cal Poly to win the NCAA Super Regional and secure the program's first-ever trip to the College World Series.
The victory sent the Mountaineers to Omaha, Nebraska, where college baseball's national championship would be decided among the nation's final eight teams.
Playing before a packed crowd at Kendrick Family Ballpark, West Virginia completed a two-game sweep of Cal Poly to cap one of the most successful seasons in program history.
