Four Harrison County Students Named Finalists for $160,000 West Virginia Scholar Scholarship
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Four Harrison County students have been been named finalists in the 2026 West Virginia Scholar Program, earning an opportunity to compete for a full scholarship to West Virginia Wesleyan College valued at approximately $160,000.
The annual program recognizes outstanding high school juniors from across West Virginia based on academic achievement, leadership, community involvement and extracurricular activities. The scholarship includes four years of tuition, fees, room and board at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Representing Harrison County this year are:
• Adura Skidmore, Robert C. Byrd High School
• Rawyn Fluharty, Bridgeport High School
• Micah Brittain, Bridgeport High School
• Eryn Ashcraft, Lincoln High School
The four students are among just 15 finalists selected statewide for the prestigious scholarship competition.
Online voting is scheduled to begin June 5 and continue through June 14. The scholarship recipient will be announced June 17 during a luncheon on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon following a broadcast of MetroNews Talkline.
The West Virginia Scholar Program is presented through a partnership between West Virginia Wesleyan College and MetroNews and is sponsored by Greer Industries, Friends of Coal, the West Virginia Hospital Association, the West Virginia Farm Bureau and ZMM Architects & Engineers.
