David Lee Murphy To Headline Free Concert Before WVU-Arizona Game
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Country singer and songwriter David Lee Murphy will headline a free outdoor concert at WVU’s Almost Heaven Village ahead of the Mountaineers’ Big 12 matchup against Arizona.
The Big 12 Fall Tour Kickoff Concert is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, on the North Lawn outside Milan Puskar Stadium, adjacent to the Blue Lot. Admission will be free.
Murphy is best known for country hits including “Dust on the Bottle” and “Party Crowd,” along with the No. 1 Kenny Chesney collaboration “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.” He has also built a long career as a songwriter, writing songs recorded by artists including Chesney, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Keith Urban and Brooks & Dunn. Murphy was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2023.
Fans attending the concert will be permitted to bring their own food and beverages. WVU says public concession sales will not be available during or before the concert. Additional concert details are expected once the kickoff time for the Arizona game is announced.
The concert will be part of a busy weekend surrounding Mountaineer football.
The Arizona matchup will serve as WVU’s Coal Rush game, with fans encouraged to wear black as the university recognizes West Virginia’s coal mining industry and heritage. The weekend will also include the Big 12 Fall Tour and the induction of the newest class of the WVU Sports Hall of Fame.
The Big 12 Fall Tour is scheduled to be in Morgantown Oct. 9 and 10 with interactive activities, product sampling and merchandise giveaways leading into Saturday’s game and concert.
Kickoff between West Virginia and Arizona at Milan Puskar Stadium remains to be announced.
