Clarksburg to Kick Off Fourth of July Weekend with Fireworks, Symphony and Liberty Market
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Downtown Clarksburg will serve as the backdrop for a full day of patriotic festivities on Thursday, July 2, as three longtime community traditions come together to kick off the Independence Day holiday weekend.
The celebration will center around Veterans Memorial Park and the Clarksburg Amphitheater, where visitors can enjoy local shopping, live entertainment, a patriotic concert and one of the region's signature fireworks displays.
The day's activities begin with food trucks opening at noon, followed by the Liberty Market from 3 to 10 p.m. The First Fridays Downtown Clarksburg event will feature artisans, makers and food vendors from across West Virginia, giving visitors an opportunity to shop locally while enjoying the holiday atmosphere.
At 8 p.m., the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra will perform its annual Celebrate America concert at the Clarksburg Amphitheater. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the free patriotic performance, which has become a Fourth of July tradition for generations of families throughout North Central West Virginia.
The evening will conclude with Clarksburg's annual fireworks display at approximately 10 p.m.
The three events are made possible through the collaborative efforts of several community organizations, including First Fridays Downtown Clarksburg and The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County. The foundation has supported First Fridays programming through its Community Arts Program grants while also presenting the annual Celebrate America concert for decades.
By bringing together local vendors, live music, family activities and fireworks in one location, organizers hope to create a community celebration that also serves as the unofficial kickoff to America's 250th birthday weekend.
