Bridgeport Native Ben McDougal Speaks to Little League All-Stars at State Tournament Opening Ceremonies

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Bridgeport native and Ben McDougal served as the featured speaker during the opening ceremonies of the West Virginia Little League 9–11 State Baseball Tournament Sunday evening at the Bridge Sports Complex in Harrison County.

McDougal addressed players representing communities from across West Virginia, sharing his journey from competing in the same Little League All-Star tournament as a young player to helping lead West Virginia University baseball to its historic first appearance in the College World Series in Omaha.

His message highlighted the opportunities that can grow from youth sports and encouraged the young athletes as they begin competition in one of the state's premier Little League events.

The West Virginia Little League 9–11 State Baseball Tournament officially got underway following the opening ceremonies and continues throughout the week at the Bridge Sports Complex. Teams from across the Mountain State are competing for the state championship and the opportunity to advance beyond the state tournament.

The Bridge Sports Complex is hosting the tournament, bringing together players, coaches, families, and supporters from communities across West Virginia for a week of competition in Harrison County.
