Aetna Better Health Opens New Community Resource Center in Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Residents in North Central West Virginia now have access to a new community-focused health resource following the opening of Aetna Better Health of West Virginia's Community Resource Center inside Community Care of West Virginia's Clarksburg location.

The new center, which is open to the public, is designed to provide health and wellness resources, community gathering space, and direct support services for individuals and families throughout the region.

According to Aetna Better Health of West Virginia, the facility will host wellness programs, vaccine clinics, and other health-related events aimed at bringing services closer to residents. The center also features flexible meeting space, computer access for virtual appointments, and teleconferencing capabilities that can be used by community organizations and groups.

Aetna Better Health of West Virginia CEO Todd White said the center is intended to expand access to care and connect people with resources in a convenient setting.

"This Community Resource Center strengthens our ability to provide accessible health care support and meet people where they are," White said. "Whether someone needs one-on-one assistance, attends a wellness clinic or participates in a community meeting, the center offers valuable resources to the local community."

The partnership brings the center to Community Care of West Virginia's Clarksburg facility, allowing the two organizations to work together to address health care needs beyond traditional clinical services.

Community Care of West Virginia CEO Patricia "Trish" Collett said the new space will help connect residents with support services while reducing barriers to care.

"In a region where access to care and support services can be a challenge, this space helps remove barriers by connecting people to the resources they need close to home," Collett said. "Together, we are expanding whole-person care beyond the exam room and creating new opportunities for individuals and families to improve their health and well-being."

For Aetna Better Health members, the center will also offer in-person assistance from care managers several days each week, with opportunities to schedule one-on-one meetings outside of normal clinical hours.

The Community Resource Center is part of Aetna Better Health's broader effort to address health and social needs in communities across West Virginia. Company officials noted that nearly four out of every 10 West Virginians live in rural areas, making access to health services and support resources more challenging for many residents.

Aetna Better Health of West Virginia currently serves more than 166,000 Medicaid members across all 55 counties in the state.

The new Community Resource Center is located within Community Care of West Virginia's Clarksburg facility and is open to both Aetna members and the general public for many of its services and community programs.
