101st State Fair of West Virginia Opens in Lewisburg
LEWISBURG, W.Va. — One of West Virginia’s largest annual traditions is back as the State Fair of West Virginia opened Thursday for 10 days of agriculture, food, carnival rides and a packed lineup of live entertainment.
The 101st State Fair of West Virginia runs Aug. 13 through Aug. 22 at the State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg.
This year’s fair once again combines its longstanding agricultural roots with livestock competitions, exhibits, carnival attractions, food vendors, free entertainment and nightly Grandstand events.
Opening day admission is $10, with a $25 Mega Pass available for rides. Children ages 10 and younger are admitted free throughout the fair.
Several discounted admission days are planned during the 10-day run. Monday, Aug. 17, includes $7 admission after 4 p.m. and a $25 gate-and-rides special for those bringing three school supplies. Tuesday, Aug. 18, is Dollar Day, with $1 admission all day and a $20 Mega Pass.
Wednesday, Aug. 19, features $7 admission after 4 p.m., while Thursday, Aug. 20, is West Virginia Day with $5 gate admission.
The Grandstand entertainment schedule begins Thursday night with the Buckin’ B Bull Ride.
Vincent Mason and Avery Anna perform Friday, followed by Trace Adkins with special guest Aaron Tippin on Saturday. West Virginia native Sierra Ferrell takes the stage Sunday with support from The Brudi Brothers.
CAIN and Leanna Crawford perform Monday, followed by Shenandoah on Tuesday and Ying Yang Twins and Paul Wall on Wednesday.
The final three nights include Dierks Bentley on Thursday, Aug. 20, Gavin Adcock on Friday, Aug. 21, and Stone Temple Pilots on Saturday, Aug. 22.
While the concerts draw some of the largest crowds, agriculture remains at the center of the State Fair tradition.
Competitions and exhibits throughout the fair include agricultural produce, arts and crafts, foods, needlework and flowers, along with livestock and other agricultural events.
Fairgoers will also find carnival rides and free entertainment throughout the grounds, giving families plenty to do beyond the Grandstand performances.
The State Fairgrounds are located at 947 Maplewood Ave. in Lewisburg, approximately three miles south of Interstate 64 Exit 169.
