$1 Million Project Will Add ADA Curb Improvements Across Harrison, Doddridge
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A more than $1 million accessibility project is set to bring improvements to sidewalks and street crossings across six communities in Harrison and Doddridge counties.
The West Virginia Division of Highways has awarded a $1,027,802 project for the installation of ADA curb cuts at approximately 176 locations across Bridgeport, West Milford, Salem, Clarksburg, Lumberport and West Union.
Tempo Construction LLC submitted the low bid for the project, which will improve accessibility at locations throughout the two counties.
The improvements are designed to create more accessible transitions between sidewalks and streets, particularly for people using wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility devices. The upgrades can also make pedestrian crossings easier to navigate for families with strollers and others traveling on foot.
Five of the six communities included in the project are located in Harrison County, with West Union representing the Doddridge County portion of the work.
The contract was among 17 construction projects recently awarded by the West Virginia Division of Highways following a September bid letting.
WVDOH has not yet released a list identifying the approximately 176 individual locations where the improvements will be made or a timetable for construction.
The project is part of continuing infrastructure work across north-central West Virginia aimed at improving transportation facilities and accessibility in communities throughout the region.
