By Local News | June 12, 2017
Madisen Miles is a junior at Robert C. Byrd High School where she excels not only academically, but also in the leadership positions she holds.
Madisen works hard to maintain a 4.2 GPA while taking several AP, WVU, and Fairmont State courses. She is most enveloped in her math and science courses with plans to study biochemistry during her post-secondary education.
Upon becoming a pediatric surgeon, Miles would like to travel overseas to provide those left without healthcare the medical aid that they deserve.
Outside of school, Miles serves as President for the West Virginia Association of Student Councils. This position, although stressful, has opened many doors allowing her to experience the process of leading a lower scale mock government. Every chance she gets, Madisen gets out into the community whether she is is attending her younger brother’s sporting events or volunteering at the local middle and elementary schools.
She is also a member of Young Life, Eagle Cabinet,Vincent Memorial United Methodist Church, and her school’s soccer team. Miles focuses on making the most of everyday and making people smile. She lives by the quote, “Despite the barriers that divide us, we all smile in the same language.”
