With Production Up, Natural Gas Rates to Decrease in Harrison County on November 1st

By Connect Clarksburg Staff | August 06, 2018

MetroNews is reporting that the state Public Service Commission announced Friday it’s expecting natural gas rates to go down slightly this winter.

The PSC has taken an initial look at the “Purchased Gas Adjustment” cases filed recently by natural gas utilities and the big companies show they’ve spent less on purchasing gas so they are seeking a decrease in the purchase gas portion of their rates.

According to the PSC, Mountaineer Gas is seeking a 3.95 percent decrease, Hope Gas/Dominion Energy a 5 percent decrease, Lumberport/Shinnston Gas a decrease of nearly 6 percent and Peoples Gas a decrease of 4.8 percent.

Following PSC approval, the new rates are scheduled to go into effect Nov. 1.
